My inerviewed is a friend of mine, Pit, he attends the third class of the Scientific Programme . I
decided interviewing him
because he has a different experience from me.
Pietro studied two languages, he has been studying English since he was six
and he studied Spanish only in the middle school. Now he studies English and
likes it, he thinks that is important in order to be able to travel and
communicate with people all over the word, and he also knows that it is
important for his career and for business.
About learning English at school he told me he has 3 lessons a week and that listening and
speaking are the activities that he enjoys the most and which he considers the most useful.
He told me that when he can’t make himself understood he tries to paraphrase what he wants to
communicate.
In order to improve his pronunciation he listens a lot of music in English and sometimes he also
watches movies and tv series with subtitles in Italian. When he listens to English music often he
needs lyrics to understand the words. Pit thinks that it’s useful to know the basics of grammar
but that the best way to really learn a language is to go to a country where it
is spoken for a while, and he would like to do it at least once in his life. He would like also to do
some experiences abroad to meet foreign people and also get to know new cultures.
He added that
At the moment learning another language could be difficult because he would get confused
and would have a hard time remembering grammar rules and vocabulary.
