Ale is an 18-year-old girl who thinks that studying English is really important for her future.
She’s more keen on scientific subjects, but she doesn’t find it too difficult to learn a new language.
She’s been studying English since primary school and she feels quite confident with grammar,
thanks to the teachers she’s met.
But school is not enough!
Ale believes that speaking in English is the hardest part, but in order to improve, she’s attending a
course to get the certification B2.
She’s afraid of the exam, but we all know she can do it!
Ale started reading the lyrics of many songs, when she noticed that she couldn’t sing the right
words at the parties she went to; now she hasn’t got many problems anymore, but Eminem’s
songs are still impossible for her to sing!
She suggests another way to learn English: watching videos and movies in the original language.
She usually puts English subtitles and this is definitely helping her, especially with pronunciation
and listening.
Instead when she wants to focus on vocabulary, she writes down some new words and she reads
them again before going to sleep.
Ale has never had experiences abroad, but she’d love to.
England and Ireland seem really interesting for her, moreover a cousin of hers has been living
close to London for many years now.
Anyway Ale would prefer to stay with a host family to try to improve her knowledge of English.
However, Ale remembers some episodes in her country where she had the opportunity to speak
with some foreign tourists.
Once she was in the mountains with her mum, when a couple asked her for some information. She
found it quite hard to answer them, since she was younger and she couldn’t really understand
English. But a year ago, when a tourist wanted to know where a shop was, she hadn’t
many problems giving directions.
Ale is determined to learn English, because she’s sure it will be important for her
career.
